THE STORY:

Two of the most compassionate and driven people I have ever met built two schools in Kathmandu with a vision to educate and nurture Nepali youth. The husband and wife consistently take new students under their care, despite the tough economic climate in Nepal's field of education. The Stephens International School boards 20-30 full-time students and educates many more from pre-school to Grade 7. The Little Rose School is for children aspiring to go to University, and has seen many bright students pass through its historic halls. The building was devastated by the earthquake.

The owners opened the Stephens School to families in need. Tents are covering the courtyard as more and more families ask for a safe place to stay. The owners have gone above and beyond to ensure their community's safety and are now struggling to feed everyone who has come to them seeking help.

Meanwhile, Little Rose School needs to be torn down and rebuilt, leaving over 150 students without a school. The owners are doing everything they can to keep their students and families safe and to get the school up and running again. However this is a daunting task to complete with no help from the government and families who now find themselves without a home and living in the school's courtyard.

I spent 6 months living under the care and hospitality of the Stephens and Little Rose schools and teaching in their classrooms. Despite economic hardships, the schools foster wonderful classrooms for Nepali youth to grow and learn because of great teachers and leaders. I will forever remember my time at these schools and truly believe they have and will continue to greatly benefit the young people of Kathmandu.

Your donations will go directly to the husband and wife owners of the schools. It will help feed those seeking refuge and finding it at Stephens. It will help rebuild the Little Rose School and get kids in Kathmandu back in the safe and nurturing learning environment they have come to know at Stephens and Little Rose. I will share pictures and updates or progress. Thank you for any contribution you can make.
