BENEFITING: Reclaim Childhood, Inc.
This summer I will intern with Reclaim Childhood in Amman, Jordan for 8 weeks. Reclaim Childhood is a non-profit that seeks to empower girls and women through sports. Many girls in the Middle East today have few opportunities to play sports when they are young. RC targets girls living in the most underserved communities in Jordan, including refugees from Syria, Iraq and Palestine. Reclaim Childhood is powered by the belief that sport has the power to inspire confidence, hope and ambition in athletes. Team oriented games at all levels provide the psychosocial support necessary to improve self-esteem, strengthen peer relationships and foster leadership.
I am very excited to work with Reclaim Childhood this summer, both in week-long sports camps in various neighborhoods of Amman and in the organizational and project side of the program. Sports had a tremendously positive influence on my social skills and self esteem from adolescence to today. Please help share this opportunity for empowerment with girls and women of the Middle East!
