Recovering from Brain Surgery
Organized by: Tonjia Geraldo
I never thought I would need help like this. Working since the age of 14, I've always humbled myself by helping others and being happy by seeing people prosper. However, last fall, things took a turn for the most horrible. I became ill with a brain disorder that caused brain and spinal fluid to leak from my nose. I awoke to bloody noses and fluid soaked pillows. Shortly after, came the massive headaches and loss of vision to my right eye. Consequently, I was rushed to the ER, only to learn I needed emergency brain surgery that required a recovery time of 4 months. Recovery has been devastating. I lost my job, and with no insurance, my savings was lost as well. Not being able to afford my medication s, I've had many set backs and the stress is more than I can bear. By the grace of God, I was able to stay with my best friend but she is now struggling because she has been trying to help me. I just received the ok to go back to work, so I've been interviewing. The problem is, I still need my medication and am behind on my car payments and insurance for my car. I was denied SSI, unemployment, as well as medicaid. I've now been without income since last year in October. In closing, I am asking for help in order to save what little I have left. I am grateful for any help I receive. Thank you for reading my story.
