Update: Exciting News! :)

EVENT DATE: Jun 18, 2016
As many people know, I have dedicated my life to ensuring that all young people throughout Connecticut have access to supportive resources that promote recovery and the attainment of a self-defined purpose. North Central Regional Mental Health Board is a critical partner in achieving this vision.
I have been actively involved with NCRMHB for almost 8 years. The board as been there for my family and I during our most vulnerable times, while also celebrating our most joyful experiences.
The overwhelming love that Marcia, Danielle, Quyen, Judy, Phoebe, and everyone in the NCRMHB community have for our well-being is undeniable. Without this supportive network, I honestly don't know what will happen to so many people who find their purpose through the regional board.
I am seeking support for this irreplaceable organization because NCRMHB is at risk of elimination through the Governor's proposed budget, and I find this unacceptable.
NCRMHB is the only legislatively mandated authority that ensures that the publically funded services and resources are effectively assisting our most vulnerable community members. It is a one of a kind organization that encourages innovation, even within the most fiscally desperate times.
Just consider that, without the work of NCRMHB there will be no third party accountability in determining the effectiveness of services on combating the following issues:
- The death of people with psychiatric disabilities 25 years earlier than their healthy peers.
- The lower educational and employment outcomes, greater involvement with the criminal justice system, increased homelessness, and alarming rate of addiction among young people who experience mental health challenges.
- The growing heroin epidemic and overall substance use crisis.
Please join us in our fight to bring the opportunity of recovery to every young person, with 50% of all funds raised will go towards the "Our Voice - Our Future" Rally scheduled for June 25, 2016 in Hartford, Connecticut.
The event is hosted by the CT Emerging Leaders Association, in partnership with NCRMHB and Advocacy Unlimited, Inc.
This three-hour rally is designed to "encourage young people, between the ages of 18 & 35, to value civic engagement, get informed about key issues that are impacting our ability to launch into a successful future, and redifine the stereotypes of our generation". Speakers will cover topics related to mental health, addiction, criminal justice, employment, and education.
CT ELA was established in November 2014 to ensure all young people in Connecticut are empowered to achieve a lifestyle of personal health, positive wellbeing, and their self-defined purpose.
Since that time CTELA has developed into a diverse network of emerging leaders who inform policy and practices related to improving outcomes for young people, while connecting young people to professional development and leadership opportunities throughout the state of Connecticut.
