I visited the Philippines for a 3 week vacation during September/October 2013. I was awestruck by the raw beauty of the countryside, the food, the warmth and hospitality of the people. I fell in love with this country and the people for so many reasons.
Two weeks after i returned home, there was a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in the areas I visited in Bohol and Cebu. Then typhoon Yolanda stormed through the same area two weeks after the earthquake event.
The beautiful places I visited are now a devastated wasteland. The people I met are most likely victims today.Their lives have been turned upside down. The landscape has turned into rubble.A Holocaust hit this country and the suffering is unfathomable.
I did not hear from my friends who live there for more than a month after the typhoon hit the country. I had no idea what happened to them Luckily they are now safe.
The wonderful memories of my vacation are still fresh in my mind, but i realize how everything in the Philippines has changed since my return. I was fortunate to leave the country before this tragedy hit, but I feel the Filipinos pain.
Typhoon Yolanda was probably the worst storm ever recorded. The devastation is beyond human comprehension. The courageous people of the Philippines need your help desperately.
I implore all of you to please contribute whatever you can afford. Every dollar counts and will save lives.
