BENEFITING: United Way of Western Connecticut Inc.
Hi my name is Kelley Sullivan and I'm a senior at Marist College. As many of you know December 14, 2012 tragedy hit Newtown, Connecticut. Myself and many others around campus call both Marist and Newtown home. A lot of my classmates have reached out to me asking for ways to donate or help out so I created this fundraiser to give Marist students an easy way to donate.
One of the reasons that I chose to go to Marist is because it reminds me of my hometown of Newtown in many ways. Both are close, tight-knit communities that are always ready to lend a helping hand. Rather than the usual "six degrees of separation" I like to think they have more of a one or two-degrees of separation. Both are communities where you go somewhere and always know or recognize someone else from the community. Both are my home.
So my goal is to raise $2,600 for the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School. Marist has a undergraduate population of around 5,000 so if every student were to donate $1 the goal would be surpassed by almost double. & that does not take into account alumni, family and friends of the Marist community.
All donations go directly to United Way of Western Connecticut which has been very helpful over the past several weeks in providing support for Newtown.
So please even if you can not donate anything at this time, share this page with your family and friends and keep my hometown in your thoughts.
