BENEFITING: United Way of Western Connecticut Inc.
I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you a bit about this fundraiser. My name is Kelley Sullivan and I am a senior at Marist College. As most of us know tragedy hit Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2012. Myself and many others at Marist College are proud to call both Marist and Newtown home. Many of my fellow classmates have contacted me about ways to help the situation so I created this fundraiser in memory of those lost at Sandy Hook Elementary school.
Marist has always reminded me of Newtown in many ways, both are small close-knit communities, where in most cases everyone knows everyone. Both are places where instead of the normal "six-degrees of separation" it is more of a one or two degrees of separation. Both places have such pride and heart. And finally, both places are my home.
The reason my goal is $2,600 is because there were 26 victims in the school. 20 children and 6 adults. Marist has about 5,000 undergraduates so if every student simply donated $1 then my goal would be surpassed by more than double the amount. So please consider donating to this cause. All donations will go to United Way of Western Connecticut which has set up their own branch to help my town. Their site can be accessed here for more details on their organization: https://newtown.uwwesternct.org/
Come together like the Marist Community that I've grown to love over the past four years. Please share and pass along this link to all of your friends & family.
