BENEFITING: GLOBALBIKE INC
EVENT DATE: Jul 01, 2015
This July, I will be personally getting involved and experiencing the influence that Globalbike and its partners have in the communities of Tanzania. I will be joining a group of volunteers on a 10-day bike trek around Mt. Kilimanjaro to experience first hand the needs of the people of Tanzania and how bicycles are helping meet those needs and changing lives two wheels at a time. My goal is to raise $3,000 for Globalbike, which will cover my program cost, and help alleviate my personal costs of traveling to Tanzania from Miami, Florida. I am a physical education teacher/volleyball coach and funds do not come by easy, but experiences like this is one of the greatest investments on my behalf, not only for the people I am helping, but for the first hand experiences I can share with my students/athletes which help make meaningful connections beyond the classroom about real world issues. Bicycles are simple machines-human powered and no added fuel or energy beyond the riders ability to pump their legs-yet they make a world of difference. GET INVOLVED. MAKE A DIFFERENCE. SPREAD THE WORD. MAKE A DONATION. AND I THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
Globalbike is a not-for-profit organization that uses the power of bicycles to connect women of rural Tanzania with life saving resources. Research indicates that connecting women, in particular, to vital resources increases opportunities for higher education, improved access to health care for families, reduces rates of infant morality and ultimately increases the chance for a community to rise out of poverty. Globalbike invests in the local economy and purchases high quality bikes that will stand the test of time. Each bike cost $200 and are purchased in large quantities to keep the distribution facility full and transportation cost low. For more information visit globalbike.org.
