BENEFITING: International Rescue Committee
EVENT DATE: May 21, 2017
As a student of public health, I can no longer stand by and say, "But what can we do?" when it comes to the Refugee Crisis happening in the world- especially in terms of the war going on in Syria and those internally displaced persons and refugees. As a human being, I felt compelled to reach out to those in need. I realized while donating to the International Rescue Committee that my impact, OUR impact, could be much more profound if I involved my family and friends in the donation process as well. The IRC provides millions of refugees a year with primary health care, reproductive health care, clean water, sanitation, vaccinations, education, counseling and essential services for victims of gender-based violence . The IRC supports clinics, hospitals, and legal centers that provide tremendous services to refugees throughout the world's highest conflict areas. They help to resettle not only refugees but victims of human trafficking in stable situations, and provide support services to encourage a sense of independence and autonomy that so many have lost. 93% of the IRC's expenses are spent on the programs and services it delivers to people in need throughout the world. If you would like to better understand the gravity of the situation happening to our global brothers and sisters, I recommend you spend some time on the International Rescue Committee's website, www.rescue.org. I invite and implore you to join me in helping some of the 65 million displaced people around the globe, in what is the biggest refugee crises in recorded history.
With gratitude, and #WithRefugees,
