Refugee Eid Aid
Organized by: Haseeb Bhutta
Over the last few months we’ve seen countless images of how low humanity can fall. From truckloads of deceased rotting bodies, to infants washing ashore, even to a father weeping trying to sell pens while carrying his sleeping child. Every heart wrenching image has reminded me of the evil that exists in the world and how little I’ve done to combat it or at the very least help those afflicted by it. I wish I could say sorry to Aylan, to his parents, to all those who treated with such dishonor after they died. To the father who had to suffer such humility to provide for his family, sorry that I didn’t do enough soon enough. May peace be granted to you and your family. If you’ve felt similar emotions toward the refugee crisis please help me raise money to donate to the charities that are doing the real work in helping those in need, it is the least we can do. My plan is to raise money through crowdrise and then to donate it through google, taking advantage of google’s donation match policy, this way we double our aid to those in need. Along with donating through google, I would like to donate a portion through the Islamic Relief Fund for Udhiya/Qurbani for the Muslim holiday of Eid so those in need could be given a chance to maybe enjoy their Eid or at least have one less thing to worry about on the blessed day. Thank you for you support, and if we are not able to give we should remember those in need in our prayers. Eid Mubarak!
