BENEFITING: GATES OF HOPE FOUNDATION
Gates of Hope is an international organization that has grass roots projects in Kenya, Costa Rica and the U.S. We are based out of Boise, Idaho which just so happens to be a relocation destination for refugees (I know Idaho, right!?), so we decided to partner with a really cool community organization, called Open Doors, that sends local refugee children to YMCA Summer Camp! Open Doors was founded by a Boise, businessman named Jeff Mandell, who has been raising funds for the last several years to sponsor refugee kids to attend Y-camp. The money raised pays their camp fees and buys them everything they might need for the week long camp!
This program is designed to give local refugee children, typically coming from extreme hardship, a chance to go be a kid! The YMCA camp provides the perfect opportunity for these kids to build friendships, learn the culture, and make positive lasting memories. Immersed in a positive, healthy, active and nurturing environment, these kids are provided with building blocks to help them adjust to their new surroundings and foment their social and emotional development. We have seen these changes, and the YMCA and refugee relief organizations in Boise have been avid supporters and facilitators of our efforts.
Join with us as we raise the funds to cover the costs of these expenses, enabiling more kids to attend camp! Our target is to send a minimum of 23 kids to camp this year. The camp cost is $60.00 for each child and the bag of supplies ranges from $70-$100.00. All money raised goes directly to paying for camp fees and camp supplies. Help us make this happen!!!
