BENEFITING: CURE STARTS NOW INC
EVENT DATE: Feb 21, 2015
My inspiration comes from Lauren Hill, freshman basketball player at Mount Saint Joseph University in Cincinnati. Lauren's story has gone viral and her fight to live life to the fullest until she can't anymore inspired me to carry on what she desires: Find a cure for DIPG and pediatric brain cancer. Lauren's story hit on a personal level with her passion for Basketball. I can not even compare our stories, but I am proud of her fight to Not Give Up! It would be so easy for her to lay down and quit in all the pain she is enduring. Cancer and Pain Suck. Most of you will know this, but for those of you who this gets to that don't; I, by the Grace of God overcome the debilitating diagnosis the Dr.'s gave my parents at Birth. I have an inoperable benign tumor attached to my brainstem. I have been blessed to live a pretty normal life with the help of a Shunt. I know our a few families in my hometown who have been affected by Pediatric Cancer and the affect it has had. Seeing this story, hearing of many others, and being around them in my line of work, I want to do a small part in helping raise money and awareness for a devastating disease. I have given this fundraiser the title Refuse to Lose, a slogan of Coach Cal and the Kentucky Wildcat Basketball team. My brother plays for baseball for Centre College and they play Mt. St. Joseph next spring. I am currently trying to line up things to dedicate the double header on February 21st, 2015 to DIPG Research and Lauren Hill. Lauren's basketball number is 22. In honor of that I have set a goal to rise at least $22,000.
