BENEFITING: HOPE PRISON MINISTRIES INC
According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice and Statistics, at the end of 2010, more than 7,000,000 people were incarcerated or under some form of correctional supervision (probation or parole). Nationwide, recidivism estimates range from 60% and higher, which means that 6 out of 10 will return to prison within three years, at an estimated cost of $16,000 - $25,000 per offender! Obviously, the system is not working.
Faith-based programs are designed to promote the inner-change of offenders, and they work. Recidivism estimates for those completing a faith-based program are less than ten percent. As compelling as these statistics may be, the problem is that no standardized curriculum for these programs exist. Instead, chaplains and related ministries must mix-and-match from a hodgepodge of inconsistent materials. Hope Prison Ministries is developing the only curriculum of its kind for use in the faith-based dorms of prisons nationwide.
ReGen: The Curriculum for Christ-centered Living (for use in prisons nationwide) will consist of 130 daily lessons for six-months worth of instruction consisting of reading, homework, DVD-based instruction, discussion and review and more!
