"Who's watching the kids?"
Everyday working families are faced with this question and many more - who is going to watch my baby? Who will nurture and keep her safe? How will I find someone? The Oklahoma Child Care Resource & Referral Association (OCCRRA to our friends) works daily to answer these and many other questions parents may have when searching for care. The reality is - parents have to work.
In Oklahoma more than 120,000 children are in some form of licensed child care.
Over 430,000 children age twelve and under need some form of care each day while their parent(s) work or go to school.
With YOUR help we can:
- Give FREE referrals to families.
We offer a tailored search for licensed child care in your neighborhood. We helped 4,276 children find care last year alone! We help families of all shapes and sizes (mom, dad, grandma, aunt darla...) to know what their rights are and with what to look for when choosing who should "watch the kids" when they can't.
- Train and Assist child care providers.
We offer certified trainings with onsite visits to aid with activities, ideas, health and safety, and business advice. We offer support and best practice on how to be the best for our kids by providing a quality, early learning environment. We had over 6,000 participants attend OCCRRA trainings last year; and we visited over 1,000 facilities in person as their "go to" people for quality and care.
- Make the Case.
OCCRRA pleads the cause, supports and promotes for a child care system that serves all of Oklahoma's children. With up to date data and reports we are able to inform policy makers and community leaders on what child care looks like in their community. We KNOW that children are the future!
Your donation makes a difference in the life of a child, their family and the care provider.
