Hi friends and family!
This summer I will be joining my mom and other members of our church on a mission trip to Nicaragua. The trip costs $3000 for the two of us to go and we are hoping you might be willing to help us reach this goal.
It is a six day mission trip to meet and work with community members in several small villages near our friends in Los Pinos, Nicaragua, which Woods Chapel Church has sponsored since July of 2013. My mom was actually part of the first group to go and I remember how excited the whole team was about all they had done and learned on that trip. It was not only an educational experience for them but an enlightening one as well. I was overjoyed by all they shared and the relationships they wanted to continue to develop there. It was more than a mission trip, it was building friendships and that sounded really cool.
I have gone on several mission trips before with the Youth Group at my church to places like Omaha, St. Louis, Cleveland, and South Dakota. Through these experiences I have witnessed much suffering and poverty and also kindness and grace. God is with all of us and I believe he works through all of us to make the world a better place.
I now wish to take my explorations in faith outside of the U.S. and embark on my own little journey to these villages of Nicaragua and see what God has in store for me with the people living there. I can't wait to learn and do all I can with them to understand and appreciate not only their living conditions but their lifestyle and culture. As a Spanish language student and a follower of Christ I think this mission will help me grow into a stronger disciple and a more well-rounded and open minded person. This experience will serve me well as I step into my last leg of high school before I embark into college life and adulthood. I hope for this to be a way for me to reconnect with my faith and join others on their own faith journey. I really look forward to helping our friends in Nicaragua in any way I can.
It is for all of this that I ask as a friend, cousin, niece, granddaughter, and follower of Christ for any help financially that you would be able to give my mom and me as we save and prepare for the trip. And whether financial assistance is possible or not, please pray for us and our team. I look forward to telling all of the new people I meet during my time there about the love and kindness of my amazing friends and family back home. And as a thanks to all of you, I look forward to sharing my stories of my new friends in Nicaragua with you.
Thank you for anything you are able to do!
God bless you,
p.s. You can see a few of the pictures my mom took on the first trip in July 2013. Part of what Woods Chapel Church has done over the last few years (in partnership with the Rainbow Network) is build new houses with the people of the villages we sponsor.
