Hoping we'll make it...slowly but surely :) See More

THE STORY:

In 2009, a year after my divorce, I enrolled in university. I saw it as the only logical way to support two children, especially because their father was dodging child support (and today owes over $60K in back support). I knew I needed to be able to be the one person my kids could always count on to make sure they had a good, comfortable life...so I took the steps to make that happen. While enrolled I hit a few snags...my car broke down a couple of times and I had to ask for an emergency loan from the school. Normally "emergency loans" were just taken out of the next semester's disbursement and there was nothing to worry about. Until my last semester my account balance was $0. I spoke to a student account specialist several times, making sure that everything balanced out and the emergency loans were paid back. Come graduation, however, the emergency loans miraculously reappeared on my account. The school says I owe them, and I have no proof otherwise, other than I remember going up to that office several times to make sure that they were taken care of. I even remember the worker, Kendra, showing me her computer screen and a balance of $0. I desire to find a career. I want so badly to work and support my family. I want to be a good member of my community and most of all: I want to be self-sufficient. No more food stamps, no more worries about child support, just a normal mom with a normal life, halfway normal kids, and someday a house with an attached garage.
