Relief for Donna Sharp and Family
Organized by: Matthew Sharp
Dearest friends, family, and loved ones of Donna Sharp and her son Matthew,
Most of you have already heard of the untimely stroke that Donna suffered on the 12th of January, 2016. The tragedy of this event is now coupled with hope and relief in the form of her recovery. Donna was released from the intensive care unit on Thursday, January 31st, where she had been recovering from a life-saving operation performed on the right side of her brain, which had been affected by the sudden stroke. Donna is currently staying at Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, having moved from California in 2012 following the loss of her beloved mother, Genevev Chadkowski, who similarly suffered a stroke. Presently, at Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital, Donna is making progress toward regaining enough physical strength to return home with the same level of independence she knew before this most unfortunate affliction.
Although Donna's eventual recovery is expected by her doctors and family alike, the financial burden of the medical expenses is weighing very heavily on her devoted son. Matthew, who had only very recently began a career as a STAR smog inspector in California—a promising position that he obtained with the numerous certifications he received from Universal Technical Institute, where he studied automotive—did not hesitate to leave his new job and move to Missouri, where he continues to be a pillar of support for his mother, as she makes her way through each and every arduous stage of recovery.
Should this effort raise zero dollars or more than the ambitious goal of $3,000, I know that Matthew will continue doing all that he can in aiding his mother Donna in her recovery. I am a close friend of Matt's and am well aware of how emotionally, as well as physically exhausting this experience has been for him. It is for both Donna and Matthew's sake that I write this now. Any amount of money donated will alleviate the stress that comes with debt. My sincerest wish is to make it possible for Donna to focus solely on her recovery, and to ease the burden on Matthew so that he may devote more emotional energy toward helping his mother make a full recovery. The current lack of financial stability in their lives is a source of stress that neither of them should be made to bear at a time such as this.
Apart from financial help, there is a great deal we can do in order to help. Simply spreading the word about this fund-raising campaign or reaching out to offer a few kind words to the Sharps in this trying time will make a world of difference.
Thank you for helping!
