A Final Thank You and a Pledge to Continue

It is with heart felt gratitude that I am posting this final note. Late this summer I accepted the invitation of Virginia and Sean to participate See more
In May of 1997 our family was devastated by the loss of my youngest son Georgie. Despite the best efforts of the first responders, the local fire department, my son did not survive the freak accident that resulted in his loss of life. Although much of that day is a huge blur what I do remember is the care and compassion that was extended to me during the initial response time and the days that followed. I accompanied Georgie in the rescue squad to the hospital. HIs siblings who were at home with me were safely tranported by truck to the hospital as well. They continued to express their sympathy to us with a visit to our home and flowers to his funeral. I am participating in the Tunnels to Tower to acknowledge the significance of the role that first responders have in the lives of families who are met with tragedy. They are caring compassionate people. I am so very proud that my son-in-law is a member of the Jefferson City Fire Department and I together with my daughter, his wife, and close friends are honored to take part in Tunnels To Tower, Jefferson City 2016. May God bless and keep safe all first responders who in the course of their daily work often find themselves in harms way yet still find the time to show compassion to those they serve.
