Kristi Hart's Fundraiser:

Remembering Kaycee

Kristi Hart

Kaycee was an intelligent, beautiful young woman that succumbed to drug addiction and suicide. Kaycee died on July 10, 2013 from a self inflicted gun shot wound to her dead. Her last words in her suicide note were, "Keep my story out there. Addiction DOES kill. Sorry for all the lies. Please try & remember the good Kaycee."

Although Kaycee's family and friends have faced unbelievable grief, we have worked hard to educate ourselves and grant Kaycee her last wish. Kaycee hoped that, by sharing her story, others might be saved from a similar fate.

We have a memorial website where people can express their feelings. The site on FB is called "Remembering Kaycee" and is filled with information and resources for suicidal people and suicide survivors. Kaycee's mother and 16 year old brother have given a total of 7 talks to high school students, telling them about the devastation that friends and family suffer after a loved one takes their own life.

In addition, we are beginning a campaign to send letters of encouragement to people who may be in peril.

We are currently trying to raise funds for start up costs so that we can create a not for profit organization where suicide survivors can go out into their own communities and provide education and outreach. In doing so, we hope to end the stigma surrounding mental illness, addiction, and suicide. All monies donated will go directly for start up costs, including attorneys fees to set up the non profit, government filing fees, as well as the creation of materials that can be given to community leaders who may be interested in having a speaker.

In addition, although we have only been at this, we have received significant press and have been asked to speak in 3 different states. We want to provide these talks at no charge to the organizations, for as long as possible. If enough money is raised, it can go toward transportation costs so that we can spread Kaycee's message to more people.

No donation is too small. Thank you for your interest and support.
