BENEFITING: COMMUNITY ALLIANCE OF TENANTS
The Community Alliance of Tenants has declared a Renter State of Emergency and launched a critically responsive campaign addressing rampant rent increases and no-cause evictions.
This critical response campaign needs your support! Every dollar helps.
Your support for this critical response campaign will help us to:
- build the energy, support, and political will that we need to put the brakes on the rent hikes and evictions that are forcing tenants our of their homes.
- expand our campaign communications and activities into multiple languages,
- put capacity into research and policy development,
- coordinate logistical support like transportation, interpreters, translations, and event details (food, equipment, meeting space, etc)

Give $300 as a FIRST RESPONDER - Organizing a Community Hearing
Through no fault of our own, huge numbers of tenants are facing unsustainable rent increases or are simply being evicted. More and more of us are losing our housing security and sense of stability, and the capacity for advancement that comes with them. The effects are devastating; renteres are experiencing mental and physical health impacts, disruption of children's stability and education, loss of access to transportation, training and jobs, and a lost sense of community and belonging. This has become a full-blown human-made disaster for tenants losing their homes! We need disaster relief now!
This year we saw the summer of evictions. Portland is one of the most gentrified cities in the nation and has among the highest rates of rent increases. Unsurprisingly, no-cause evictions are at record levels. Landlords and developers issuing such evictions and dramatically raising rents are forcing responsible and reliable tenants out of housing, into one of the worst rental markets in history, without considering of the impact on the individual tenants, or our community.
The Community Alliance of Tenants works year round to support tenants with Renter Education, Organizing and Advocacy and it's our tenant members and our community supporters that make our work possible. This critical response campaign is impossible without a groundswell of grassroots support and donations to make it happen.
