Reparation and Preservation of Wesley Chapel in Kennedy, Al.
Organized by: Joel Holliman
Wesley Chapel, an historic country church, was the focal point and gathering place for many family farm members for over 100 years. As the old folks passed on and the children left the farmland for better economic opportunities this extraordinary building, cemetery, and property was slowly abandoned. Five acres was given to God by my Great, Great Grandfather Joel Wilson for a building site for a local community church. The document (deed) to God for the furthering of the gospel of Jesus Christ is a wonderful and remarkable read. My forefathers and the community had the foresight to build the resulting structure with theater seating so that even the back row has a good view of the pulpit. Time does take its toll and now a new roof is required. Water damage of the structure of the roof, ceiling, and floor must be repaired. A metal roof would be ideal to preserve the integrity of the building from now on. Upon completion of the repairs the chapel will remain open for history buffs and worshipers alike. Please help with any donation for the reparation and preservation and maintenance of this wonderful monument to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
