BENEFITING: HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY
The roof of the Squirrel Cage Jail (one of three remaining rotary jails in the U.S.) has received repeated hail damage since it was built in 1885. The roof has never been replaced, just patched. We now have water damage on the inside of the building that needs to be repaired as well as to finish raising funds for the roof. The roof replacement costs $97,000 and the interior damage repair is $47,500. We have raised $80,000 towards the roof and have a short term loan for the rest. The goal now is to pay off the loan as quick as possible and raise money for the interior repairs.
