The Houston city pound (BARC) takes in over 100 animals per day from City of Houston residents (this does not even count the surrounding areas). Some days they take close to 200. As a result, thousands of adoptable dogs and cats are killed every year in Houston—not because they are too sick to save, but because of a lack of space.
Rescued Pets Movement (RPM) was founded in September 2013 with a mission to provide a second chance for thousands of homeless dogs and cats through rehabilitation and transport to forever homes in communities throughout the country that have a demand for adoptable pets.
In just over3 years, RPM has saved over 20,000 death-row dogs and cats and has been instrumental in increasing BARC’s save rate from a mere 37% to a consistent current average of 85+%.
Your donation, no matter how small, will help RPM continue to save pets, often from death row with only hours left to live, and transport them to rescues to find loving homes.
In ideal conditions, it costs RPM $225 per pet from the time they save the pet to the time they transport it to the rescue group that will place the pet in a home. Unfortunately, conditions are usually not ideal, as pets get sick and need treatment and transport vans break down.
There are days when I feel like I've had enough. I can't sit in traffic another hour to pick dogs up. I can't vaccum dog hair out of my car for the 5th day in a row. I can't deal with one more razor-clawed kitten climbing my leg. But then I see their little faces, and know that there are 600+ of them that could be moved to death row any minute. And I keep going. There is no rich donor funding RPM, most of their donations are small amounts ($10-$100) from individuals who want to do something to help. Please help them continue their mission and save 20,000 more!
