Rescued Pets Movement’s mission is to provide a second chance for thousands of homeless dogs and cats through rehabilitation and transport to forever homes in communities throughout the country that have a demand for adoptable pets.
I'm fortunate to live in a great city where we work hard to meet challenges and improve our quality of life. One of Houston's challenges is solving our problem of around a million homeless dogs and cats. Houstonians strive to improve our shelters and work with rescue groups on animal care and adoption; to provide low cost spay and neuter opportuniites for dogs and cats as well as TNR for feral cats--and then there is Rescued Pets Movement.
I've volunteered and later worked for RPM since its inception in 2013. During that time I've met countless volunteers, donors, and fosters. We have a committed and passionate staff including our medical, rescue, foster, and transport teams. I've even had the honor of going to Colorado on one of our transports to meet some of our rescue partners and watch the joy with which Houston's dogs and cats are received.
These animals are WANTED, and our mission is to get them off of Houston's streets and out of the shelters and into those homes ready to welcome them. There's nothing more gratifying than seeing positive change as documented by a dog's first photo taken when he or she was sick, scared, and underweight--then getting a photo of that dog who's finally able to sleep without fear in one of our foster's homes--to transport day, when I take that last photo before the big journey--to receiving photos of the dogs and cats from our rescue partners, their foster families in other states, and finally, the forever family who takes the time to shoot a photo of a cat lazing happily in the sunlight coming through a window or playing with a new sibling, or a dog hiking in the Colorado hills, rollicking with his new family, even leading a kayak on a great adventure.
RPM has helped this happen more than 20,000 times, and I'm hoping you'll contribute to my team and help us save many times that number until I can say, "Houston--we no longer have a problem."
THANK YOU for your help and your support. Please remember, no amount is too small.
