I volunteer once a week (when I am in town) at a Refuge for Saving the Wildlife, a shelter that rescues exotic parrots. Like cats and dogs, parrots sometimes lose their homes and the Refuge provides a safe place for them to live and hopefully find a new family. From the website:
"We are a not-for-profit, no-kill parrot rescue, rehabilitation, education and adoption shelter.
We are accredited by the Association of Avian Rescue Organizations (AARO) and licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Animal Welfare to provide for adoptions. We are also a member of the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators."
