BENEFITING: LuMind Research Down Syndrome Foundation
EVENT DATE: Sep 19, 2015
On September 19, I'm running the Air Force Half Marathon to help raise funds for the LuMind Research Down Syndrome Foundation.
Down syndrome is one of the most common chromosome abnormalities in humans, occurring in about 1 per 1000 babies born each year. Individuals with Down syndrome have a higher risk of early death than the general population often from heart problems or infections. Currently between 4 and 12% die in the first year of life. In those with congenital heart problems, 50% survive to 30 years of age.
