Rest for the Angels
Organized by: Kara Federonick
For the past two summers, I have had the blessing and opportunity to share life with the children and staff of Angel House Orphanage and Secondary School in Tarime, Tanzania. From the time I was young, I have had a desire to serve others and be a part of what God was doing in various places around the world. These last two summers I have gotten the chance to partner with and work alongside the local Tanzanians at Angel House to strive toward their mission of caring for and educating a faithful, self-sufficient generation that will positively impact the lives of others.
Many people might consider doing service work in Africa as helping them out and doing some great service for them. I can honestly say that they are the ones who have helped me. Through their loving kindness, I have seen what true selflessness, sacrifice, discipline, and hard-work looks like. I have been challenged in my faith and walk with God, and I have come to see even more just how precious this gift of life is that we have been given.
Angel House Orphanage started off with 30 children in 2005 and has grown to having 62 children from 10 different tribes and villages from around Tanzania. In 2011, they opened a secondary school to provide those at Angel House and the surrounding areas with a quality education where they could learn and develop the skills necessary to be productive members of society. Angel House has a vision to one day be completely self-sustaining, and is well on their way to doing so.
While there have been many accomplishments along the way, there have also been some challenges. There has recently been a case of bed bugs, and the staff has done much to improve the issue through spraying and replacing all the bed frames. They are now in the process of trying to replace all of the old mattresses with new ones for the kids, and would welcome any help offered to do so.
Please consider sponsoring a mattress. Help the children and youth of Angel House Orphanage be able to have a peaceful night's rest without the concern of the bed bugs. There are a total of 42 mattresses that need to be replaced, and once they are replaced, there will be mattress covers available for each of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any donations above and beyond will go towards a medical fund for the kids. Thank you and God Bless!
