Glade Run Lake Conservancy is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to raising funding to restore Glade Run Lake in southern Butler County, southeastern PA. The 55 acre lake was drained due to safety concerns about dam leakage. It was home to a diverse wildlife population and visited by over 16,000 people per year for fishing and boating recreation, bringing over $1.6 million to the local economy. Concerned citizens formed GRLC in 2012 to show legislators there is grassroots support for restoring the lake, to encourage officials to allocate funding, and to raise funding via private and public sources. The estimate for repairs is $4.3 million dollars. In April, 2014 $4 million of that estimate was pledged by PFBC and Gov. Corbett. The remaining $300,000.00 is to come from private sources, i.e. GRLC. Aproximately $50,000.00 remains to be raised. See http://vimeo.com/81837543 to view a slide show about the lake. Additionally, fundraising is ongoing to improve handicap access facilities and other park improvements. Visit www.gladerunlakeconservancy.org for more information.
