BENEFITING: Peoples Hall Limited
Erected in 1847, People's Hall was established as a free hall where all people were free to discuss every subject - "religion, morals, physics, politics or the like, irrespective of clime, cast, sex, sect, or party." People's Hall was established by Abolitionists who purchased the land from the Friends Meeting House next door. Since its establishment, the Old Hall has been used as a meeting house for Abolitionists, a stop on the Underground Railroad, a polling place, a church, a ceremony location for the Ercildoun Academy and a meeting place for the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the Grange and the East Fallowfield Historical Society. The People's Hall Motto is "Let Truth and Error Grapple" The 165 + year old building has fallen into disuse and disrepair. Please donate to help restore this piece of American History in the Historic Village of Ercildoun, PA.
