BENEFITING: Provo Community Church
The Easter Cross is restored!
The Easter Cross is a ten-foot stone cross that was built on Y Mountain in 1939. Click here for an article about the Cross's history. Click here or here for articles about the Eagle project. Click here or here for other articles about this project. You can also Google "Provo Easter Cross".
On November 7, 2016, we moved the Easter Cross from its home on Y Mountain to its new location in the EastLawn cemetery on Squaw Peak. A few pictures of that process are to your left.
On April 15, 2017, a local Eagle candidate landscaped the terrace. He and his group laid 150 feet of sprinkler pipe and two pallets of sod. A few pictures of that are to your left.
The cemetery owner wanted the Easter Cross to be up in time for Memorial Day, because that is their biggest day of the year. It took some looking, but I found a stonemason who (a) knew how to rebuild the cross and (b) would do it by Memorial Day. He did what he said he would do.
We are still collecting money to cover the cost of the stonemason. All donations are appreciated. Anybody who donates $500 or more will have their name put on a plaque by the cross. So if you know of a business who would like some publicity at the cemetery, or someone who would like to be immortalized at the cemetery while they're still around to enjoy it, please tell them about this offer.
If you are reading this, please donate (that orange button at the top of the page) and share this link with everyone you know, so we can finish what we started.
If electronic payments aren't your thing, you can send a check.
Checks can be made out to PCCUCC, for the Easter Cross, and mailed to:

Donations are tax deductible.
In any case, come to EastLawn cemetery in Provo (4800 N 650 E) on Memorial Day to take a look at the cross. It's in the northwest corner by the big American flag.
