Restoring America's History
Organized by: Jonathan Bell
EVENT DATE Sep 30, 2014
From crumbling historic neighborhoods to apartment communities with sub-standard living conditions, we believe saving our culture, history and sense of place for future generations is an opportunity for all of us to do something great.
Some historically significant properties are so deteriorated the costs to restore them exceeds their property value, making most real estate builders and developers pass by these properties and neighborhoods as a lost cause.
People sometimes ask "why historic neighborhood preservation?"
The answer is simple. It's who we are. Check us out at www.oldhomesinc.com.
Many iconic buildings and entire neighborhoods are on the brink of being demolished. To date, we've helped save historic neighborhoods consisting of over 2,000 properties, many of which we're scheduled for demolition and rescued from bulldozers at the last minute. In addition, we've drastically improved the living conditions of over 1,800 families. Many of the families we're living in near squalor conditions before we got involved.
The City of Chattanooga had already demolished approximately 300 historic houses in a single neighborhood before we challenged the City government to give us a chance when no one else believed. The revitalization was more successful then ever imagined and not another property was demolished.
It's near impossible to obtain loans for the acquisition and restoration, leaving the properties and history to be lost forever. Without the financial support, we would be unable to follow our passion and leave a legacy for generations to experience and enjoy. Your contribution makes a difference beyond anything we can put in words.
