We are looking to raise seed money to really build momentum and help our organization take off. Since the founding of Restore the Village, Inc. in 2012, we have been supporting a breastfeeding and parenting support group, and breastfeeding outreach for at-risk mothers and families in Greater Cleveland for the past three years without any funding beyond what our family has directly provided to keep the organizational activities afloat. We have pursued several small community grants and were part of a larger grant submission through a partnership with University Hospitals Case Medical Centers and their Centering Pregnancy Program; to no avail. With the funds raised, we will retain professional counsel to complete our 501(c)3 application, and build infrastructure to support organizational sustainability. In addition, we will continue the production of our documentary project Liquid Gold the Movie. This groundbreaking documentary film will showcase breastfeeding experiences of Black women, and their journey to breastfeeding success with a focus on the unique cultural, institutional and environmental barriers that persist in society that can interfere with a mother's choice to breastfeed.
