Japan or BUST!

The Revere-Date Japanese Exchange Program is headed to Japan this August once again. Help these ambitious students and chaperones get to Japan on August 6th. These local students have been fundraising for a year to make this trip happen. They have been working hard to raise the funds but their efforts are coming up short. In an effort to make this more affordable, we shortened the trip. We are simply going to Tokyo & Date-Town. Our goal has always been to make this trip accessible and affordable to every student in Revere interested in cross-cultural learning. We are struggling to reach that goal this year. Will you help us make this happen?

The Revere-Date Japanese Exchange Program was established in 1993. We have been promoting cross cultural learning for over 20 years between Revere, Massachusetts and Date-Town, Japan (formerly Tsukidate). That’s quite an accomplishment.  We need your help to raise approximately $10,000 by August 6th. Our fundraising attempts have been successful; however, we still have a very long way to go.  These students, chaperones and their families are diligently fundraising every week. Your generous donation will directly benefit our 2016-2017 team that will be traveling in less than a month. Please help give these local students this amazing opportunity to travel abroad and learn. Your donation will alleviate the costs of their travel expenses which include, air fare, train tickets, & taxi fare.  We will also raising money for the youth hostel expenses along with admission costs into historical and cultural exhibits.

The Revere-Date Japanese Exchange Program is a cultural exchange program for twelve to fifteen year old students from Revere, Massachusetts and our sister city, Date, Japan.  Our program provides local students with the opportunity to showcase our city, state and nation to their guests from Japan.  The Revere students hosted Japanese students in their homes during August of 2016. Our agenda for the week included a tour of Revere, as well as several local highlights such as, Boston's many historical sites and Salem's museums and harbor,

This August, our Revere students will be in Japan with their host student and their family. During this thirteen day adventure, they will visit Tokyo for two days, travel to Date-Town to stay with their host family for eight days and then travel back to Tokyo. During the homestay, these students will experience Japanese culture at its very best! This will be the trip of a lifetime for these students.  What they experience will stay with them for the rest of their lives.  Will you help us make this happen?

Since the inception of this program, more than twenty years ago, we have relied on the generosity of local businesses and neighbors to keep this program available to ALL students in Revere.  We strive to make our program financially accessible to any interested student and their family.  Thanks to the support from our community, we have successfully managed to promote cross-cultural education and teamwork for over 180 students in Revere and Date-Town.  That’s quite an accomplishment for a non-profit, volunteer administered program.  Any contribution you can provide is greatly appreciated.
