Revitalizing Youth, Inc. (RYI) will soon host it's 2nd event at the South Shore Cultural Center with the hope of raising funds that will help establish a youth center in Chicago.

Revitalizing Youth, Inc. is designed to assist the city with lowering violence levels in both the youth and young adult communities. The creation of a youth center will offer a variety of arts-related programs – ones that aren’t readily available at most learning institutions within the city limits. Proceeds from the Children’s Art Exhibition will assist RYI with the opening of the center to provide free services to our youth within the next few years.

Revitalizing Youth, Inc. will showcase art by youth and young adults from Chicago and surrounding areas. In addition, some of the paintings and drawings that will be presented are created by professional artists locally and internationally, to include artwork from Africa.

RYI will also honor several African American greats. Many of them are Chicago natives and have done amazing things in their careers. Each artist has donated exquisite pieces for display and sale at the event and have graciously agreed to donate half of the proceeds from sales to the establishment of the center. The individuals being honored include: Margaret Burroughs, Bernie Mac, Gwendolyn Brooks, Mr. T, and Jimmy Payne, Jr. The pieces will be auctioned during the event, so come out to support Chicago’s youth by making a purchase!

The violence in Chicago is out of control. To date, the city has reached a status as having the highest levels of gun violence and murders in 2016 in the nation! Help us help our youth – the ones being targeted by violence on our streets.

Someone once said, “Each One, Teach One”. That is the motto RYI abides by. Ultimately, the goal is to expand the minds of many.
