BENEFITING: Family Supportive Housing Inc.
In 2013, San Jose and Santa Clare County posted the 5th highest homeless population in the nation.
Families with children are among the fastest growing segments of the homeless population.
Though Silicon Valley is one of the richest areas in the world, many families are living paycheck to paycheck, working multiple minimum wage jobs and struggling to pay rent. One unexpected crisis—job loss, illness, a car breaking down—could mean their world unraveling and they are unable to pay their rent, become evicted and end up on the streets or living in their car.
Many homeless shelters separate families, which cause additional stress to families in already difficult positions. Since 1986, Family Supportive Housing has operated the ONLY homeless shelter in Santa Clara County dedicated to keeping the entire family together.
We are MORE than just a roof over their heads. We are here to help families rewrite their stories and break the cycle of homelessness. Our Case Managers meet families where they are, work with them to identify the causes of their situation and together they create a plan to get back on track and into permanent housing. While their parents are attending informative financial planning and career building workshops, the school aged children are receiving high caliber instruction in in our Homework Enrichment program.
With YOUR support we can help homeless families rewrite their stories. Every day at our San Jose Family Shelter, homeless parents and their children are receiving the support and structure to make positive changes for the future of their family.
Our fiscal year ends Sepmeber 30, and we are $10,000 away from reaching our goal.
