Lewa’s Three Rhino Musketeers, here’s the Story:
- Rhinos around the world are quickly going extinct as a result of brutal poaching fueled by an illegal international market for rhino horn.
- In the midst of this violent killing of one of the world’s most beloved mammals, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya is hand-raising three brave little rhino survivors: Nicky Hope and Kilifi. The Three Rhino Musketeers!
- In order to combat these poachers and protect our rhino, Lewa's security team needs high-quality night vision goggles (something the poachers already have). These cost close to $7,000 each and it is our goal to raise enough to buy as many as we can. The better equipped our security team is, the better they can protect our wildlife.
- Nicky, Hope and Kilifi are part of a greater community conservation effort that sees the protection of biodiversity and the environment as a development strategy. More than 55,000 people in Lewa’s surrounding area are somehow positively affected by the organization’s work and this in turn inspires loyalty and conservation awareness to help combat the growing threat of wildlife crime.
