EMPOWERING INNER CITY TEEN GIRLS SINCE 2003
The Rhonda Walker Foundation is committed to empowering teen girls in Detroit through our comprehensive five-year Girls into Women Program. From 8th grade through 12th grade, our teens are immersed in life changing experiences and activities that build confidence and determination through our program pillars resulting in a 100% high school graduation rate and 100% college admission rate among teens completing our program.
OUR PROGRAM PILLARS:
Leadership/Character Building Workshops & Weekend Retreats-Public speaking, group workshop challenges, writing skills, presentation
skills, Camp I Can summer retreat
Career & Personal Development - Job shadowing, summer Internships, interviewing skills, 24-Hour GirlTalk, resume writing, financial literacy,
goal setting, personal & cyber safety, conflict resolution
Etiquette Training – Proper dress, grooming, speech, grammar, cell phone, dining and more
Education – Year-round tutoring in all subjects, ACT & SAT prep courses, cross country college tours, Scholarships
Mentoring – Teens matched with professional adult mentors
Community Outreach – Teens volunteer in support of homeless women and children
Award Winning Youth and Community Health and Wellness program – Obesity education, exercise, healthy eating, healthy hair, skin,
personal hygiene, internet/social media safety
Cultural Development – Annual trips to museums, theatres and other cultural institutions.
