Childhood is about playing, laughing, teddy bears and dolls, Sadly, some children never get that chance. Girls as young as 10 and 12 years old have their childhood stolen and sold to preditors seeking sexual gratification.
Children from poor families in India are robbed of their innocence by promises of a better life, an education, and a future. Parents desperatly seeking to give their child an opportunity at a better life hand over their precious bundle not knowing they have just sentenced their child to a life of slavery in the sex trafficing industry.
These children are taken far away from the only family they have known, a chance to play, dream, a life that resembles childhood - gone. They spend years locked in windowless rooms, drugged and sedated, their lives threatened, and forced to give up their bodies to an industry that prys on their innocence.
We learned about these children from a young lady working at a hotel in Delhi where Delana and I stayed on a visit to India. A small group of citizens challenged local officials to help, but got no assistance until reporters from a local newspaper helped confront village police officers that claimed this was not their problem. Eventually, the police intervened and the group resuced 52 innocent lives from a living hell.
We cannot stop every preditor from prying on the innocence of children, nor can we look the other, not when there are still tears flowing and childhood being destroyed. These young lives have lost more than their innocece, some have no families to return to, and others will take years to recover from scars so unimaginable.
Martin Luter King Jr. said, " Never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way."
Delana and I want to raise One-Million Rupees to help those rescued get tretment and help rescue those still living the nighmare. It sounds like a lot, but its not, it's just $20,000. The buying power of the dollar can save so many more lives, giving these childer a chance at childhood again, to play, laugh, dream, and hope.
Please help, please help. Thank you.
