THE STORY:

The Rice University football team has decided to take in Ziggy Stoval-Redd and make him apart of the team. Ziggy has signed his NLI (National Letter of Intent) as of April 8, 2015. Rice Football is ecstatic to have Ziggy on the team! Ziggy didn't have any older siblings, but now he has over 100 big brothers! We hope to provide Ziggy and his family with love, care, and affection as Ziggy battles his cancer. With your help, we can make a profound impact on a child's life.
Fre'derick aka "Ziggy" Stoval-Redd is a 7-year-old originally from Mississippi, but has moved to Katy, Texas, a suburb west of Houston, to be closer to his doctors, and is thrilled to become the newest Owl to join the roster. When Ziggy was 4-years-old, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), the most common form of cancer found in children. He underwent chemotherapy throughout 2013, and was then declared in remission. In January of 2014, he was diagnosed with ALL for a second time. It was a heartbreaking time for him and his family, and they quickly started the whole process over, yet again. He was receiving intensive chemotherapy and even suffered from kidney failure that doctors cannot believe he survived. He received dialysis treatments and is now called a "Miracle Child" at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Thankfully, Ziggy is now in remission but continues to take oral chemotherapy Mondays and Thursdays and recently had a blood transplant. According to Ziggy, he loves The Lego Movie and Spiderman. He likes watching Super Why on TV and lists chicken, pizza, shrimp and Chinese foods as his favorite foods. He loves playing on his tablet, going to the park and playing on the playground and even braves rollercoasters! Ziggy has a 4-year-old little sister, Zai, that will surely get to know the team, as well.

The Rice University Football team has teamed up with Team IMPACT (http://www.goteamimpact.org), a non-profit organization that helps improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team. The players, coaches, and everyone involved with Rice Football are ecstatic to have Ziggy be apart of the team. With your generosity, we can help Ziggy's mother not only pay their medical bills, but also feel loved and welcomed by Rice University, the greater Houston area, and communities around the country. Any donation, no matter what size, will help this family through these tough times. Thank you so much!
