I just wanted to thank you all again for donating to the Spondylitis Association! It truly blessed me to see the love and support! It also kept me going when I thought I wasn't going to make it.

I know 3.2 miles isn't much to walk, but I don't usually walk this much without stopping to rest.

Between mile 1 and 2, seemed like 100 miles!! My ankles and my SI (hip) joints we hurting so bad. At one point Aria asked if I'd like to skip (the walk seemed to have a turn point and we were passing each other) and I said, NO! that will not be a finish!!

Crossing that finish line with my girls-- with tears in my eyes was worth ever bit of pain!! At that moment. I WON! Not AS.

My journey doesn't stop here since this disease is life-long, but I can say, that this proves that...

AS has my body, but NOT me!

Much love,
Meloni

After 6:46 hours, as the youngest of 2,400 racers, I finished the 70.3 miles! Despite getting kicked in the water, the dropped bike chain, and a fair amount of plantar fasciitis pain at mile 11, it was an amazing feeling of relief and reward to cross the finish line. Thank you to the 100+ donors and the Kvamme Foundation who helped me raise over $18,000 for the SAA.

What's next? I told my parents I want to do a full Ironman, but I promised them my focus now will be getting into college and leading my High School lacrosse team to the 2014 WA State Championship. Thank you again!

I cannot thank you enough! With your support I have raised over $17,400 dollars for the Spondylitis Association of America!

My dad and I are flying down to Austin, Texas today for the Ironman race on Sunday. I am the youngest participant out of several thousand competitors. Regardless, I’m very excited. Since June, I’ve trained really hard amidst the myriad of other activities a busy High Schooler has.

Anyway, I’ll to send you one final email with a picture with hopefully a finisher medal around my neck. In the meantime, thank you again so much for supporting me and sending great positive vibes.

Dear Richard,

Thank you for your donation and kind words. I gain strength hearing from others who have AS and have been living with it much longer than me. Please feel free to share my story with others you know who have been affected by AS. I'm curious how you found out about my project since I have not yet widely distributed it. Through Crowdrise directly?

Here is a link to my project which is now added to my page: http://salliemarx.wix.com/tri-as

Thanks for your support and for reaching out to me!

Best,

Sallie
