$5K fundraising, check! 26.2 miles, check! I couldn't have done it without you. THANK YOU!! 3 days later & I'm still feeling the runner's high. What an incredible experience!

First of all, the city of Boston showed so much resilience & love, with more than 1 million spectators lining the course & 9,000 more runners than last year. Those who were wounded or stopped before the finish last yr came back to cross that blue & yellow line. Many ran in honor of the victims. I also saw a lot of runners stop to thank the police officers who were keeping us safe. The way the people of Boston came together to "take back the finish line" seriously took my breath away.

And then there was me in my neon pink outfit. So excited that I couldn't sleep the previous 2 nights. Greeted by my family before the race, I was feeling good. Cruised through the first half at a good pace, then debated whether or not to shoot for a goal time. The competitor in me wanted to keep up the pace, but I ultimately decided to pull back and take it all in. Good decision. I got to hug my friends & take photos & high-5 the kids & enjoy the crowd. I was definitely feeling the fatigue & heat through miles 16-20, but pushed my way up Heartbreak Hill & took a moment to cry & thank my mom for the strength she gave me. Only 6 more miles to go....& before I knew it, I was at mile 24, smiling ear to ear. I saw some more friends during this last stretch, which was a great boost, & then it was time for the famous "right on Hereford, left on Boylston." I couldn't even believe that I was heading right towards the big finish! At one point on Boylston, I just wanted to stop running because I didn't want this to be over yet (if you can believe that). I'll never forget the feeling as I threw both arms up with classic-Ayako peace signs & crossed the finish line. Although my legs had nothing left in them, I felt amazing after the race! How could I NOT feel great? I had a unicorn medal around my neck & they give you free fruit!!

This was truly an experience of a lifetime. What started as a coffee-break conversation with my boss (thanks for pushing me to do this) ended up being one of the most meaningful & memorable things I've ever done. My heart is full of pride & joy & gratitude. My mom carried me through 26.2 grueling miles, & I got to do this for a cause I truly believe in. Yep, I did it. My 1st marathon.

Thank you again for your generosity, support, & encouragement!!

Hi friends,

Thanks to your generous donations, I have exceeded my $5K goal! Every time I see a donation come through, I think of the dozen girls I coach and how many more kids we can help with this funding!

I spent the past weekend in LA with my family for my mom's "isshuuki," or one-year anniversary. We went in with a heavy heart, but came out with a new sense of comfort and a positive outlook on moving forward, which is what my mom would've wanted.

I arrived in rainy Boston last night. On the flight, I sat crying as I watched the tribute for the bombing victims. It was moving and beautiful. When I landed and saw the big banner at Logan Airport welcoming the marathoners, I felt more inspired and excited than ever before. I've been a cheerleader at this event 10 times, but this year, I will actually be the one being cheered on!

In 5 days, I'll be geared up in my bright neon pink outfit, ready to tackle those 26.2 miles. With each step, I will think of my supermom, now my guardian angel. I also can't wait to feel the energy from the crowd and high five as many people as I can along the way. I don't have a goal time, but you can track me with BIB # 30329 to see if I finish!

This is such a deeply personal challenge, so it means the world to me to have your support. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

Cheers!
