As hard it is to believe, I am running the 2013 ING NYC Marathon. That's right, I'll attempt to complete a race 26.2 mi (40 km) long. This will be my first marathon competition.
I am running for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), hoping to race to help eradicate blood cancers. Since 1949, LLS has been dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. As someone who has experienced losses due to blood cancers, I am throwing my full support to LLS.
I have been training hard for the past few weeks and this is the reason why I have been fairly missing in action. Running has been grueling and being not the most physically gifted, I would be humbled to finish this race. I do think that all the hours of training for a goal, the experience of traversing through five boroughs of New York City and the opportunity to make an impact make the whole marathon process worth it.
9/14 - DONE - Finished 16 miles
10/5 - DONE - Competed at Grete's Gallop, my first Half-Marathon
10/12 - DONE - Ran 20 miles, the peak of my training
11/3 - Running the NYC Marathon
