BENEFITING: Colon Cancer Alliance
EVENT DATE: Nov 12, 2016
I began running in 2011, and ran my first Undy 5000 in Washington DC in 2012 to help raise money for the Colon Cancer alliance and to honor my dad, who lost his fight in 2001. Colon cancer is the third most diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the US. It's also the most treatable when diagnosed early - the 5 year survival rate for Stage 1 colon cancer is 90%. I am running in the Richmond Half Marathon on November 12, 2016 and hoping to continue raising money to support the Colon Cancer Alliance. I would like to honor my dad's fight and help not only raise awareness of the importance of getting screened, but also help support other families who are battling colon cancer through research, patient support, and community outreach. My goal is to complete the 13.1 miles in under 3 hours!
