Rick can walk again
Organized by: Richard Strohm
My name is Richard Strohm I'm 37 years old. I work as a fireplace installer, and really enjoy what I do. I'm very dedicated and rarely take time off work. Unfortunately I am one of the many Americans living from paycheck to paycheck, and barely scraping by. I've recently found a new love in life, to better spend my time. A friend of mine over heard some coworkers talking about the Savage race and joined the conversation. When he got home he got a hold of all his close friends. And began to tell us about this race. We all agreed it sounded like fun, so one by one We all signed up. I was not in shape at the time an knew I had to change everything about my life. I started with my diet then my cardio and then my strength. I had lost over 30 lbs and planed on doing more. June 11th 2016 the race was a success our 16 person team had a great time and finished together. And just like that I was addicted, between the course and the obstacles I couldn't wait for the next race. So getting stronger and healthier continued. After a workout on July 9th me and the guys I work out with decided to kick around a soccer ball. After a minute or 20 I stepped back and felt a snap in my calf muscle and heard a pop. Then instant pain and I could no longer put weight on my right foot. I hope it's not extensive but I also know I'll be out of work for the unseen future. This is the part that kills me. I have bills like any adult and the time off work will leave me in a shelter on crutches. If it's more serious maybe worse, I'm hoping it's not something that requires surgery. But I fear the worst. My goal is high, and possibly unreachable. And what I don't use for bills and living expenses, will be donated back into go fund me accounts for other people in need of help. So anything will help, and may also help others.
