A few weeks ago I was asked to run the Boston Marathon for The Herren Project A friend at work had the spot in the race, but couldn't do it because of an injury. Not sure what to do, I called my sister, and running confidant, for her opinion. As I began to explain what the Herren Project was---she cut me off: "I know who Chris Herren is. He was just at Gracie's (my niece) school in Hopkinton. She came home that night and talked about him all through dinner. She was really affected by his story and his fight back to recovery."
Decision made on the spot. I would run for The Herren Project, And for Gracie and for everyone else he helps with his message of hope and recovery. And for one other reason.
February 14, 2015 marks 10 years of continuous sobriety for me. Ten years that I am there for my family, my kids, my job and for others trying to recover.
Thank you for your donation. I'll be thinking about all of you during those long, long, long 26.2 miles. Stay Boston Strong. RICK
