Hi Family and Friends, I wan…
Hi Family and Friends,
I want to thank you SO very much for your generous contribution to my fundraising campaign on behalf of Tipping Point Community for the SF Half Marathon. It has meant the world to me to have you support over the last few months and each donation has really brightened my day and pushed me a bit more. I have loved each text, call and email to check in on my training and your constant encouragement.

As most of you know, I was not passionate about running nor had I ever run more than 3 miles so it has been a very challenging yet rewarding experience. I remember after my 8 mile run, I was in shock and overwhelmed with gratitude as I never thought I could run 8 miles and definitely didn't think I would enjoy it but I did and I was excited to keep going.

I have been nervous about the half as I've had foot + ankle injuries in the past but was super careful and diligent about following the training guide and stretching. Unfortunately, my right foot started hurting about a month ago. I was hoping it was just an off day but it continued to hurt so I rested for a few weeks and significantly reduced my mileage. I had an MRI last Friday and don't know the results yet, but it's likely just a sprain that needs rest so the doctor gave me a brace and told me to stay off of it. Because I took a few weeks off at the most critical time in the training, I am concerned that I am no longer physically prepared for the race. It's been a really really crushing few weeks and a hard decision but I have decided that I won't be running the half marathon on Sunday. I hate feeling like I gave up but I know it's best for my long term health and I'm clinging tightly to this verse:
"For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come" 1 Timothy 4:8

My roommate is going to run in my place and I will be there cheering on the rest of my team. I know each of you committed to support me so please let me know if you would like me to reimburse your contribution. If not, your donation will still go to Tipping Point and I promise that I will run a half marathon at some point.

Thanks for believing in me and for your generosity towards fighting poverty in the Bay Area,
Ashley
