Ride for Hope Update
July 11, 2016
BENEFITING: OMID FOUNDATION USA
EVENT DATE: Jul 05, 2016
In the first week of July 2016, I will be pedaling 340 miles from Pittsburgh to Washington DC, appropriately starting on Independence Day weekend, to raise funds and awareness for the fantastic work OMID Foundation does helping vulnerable young women in Iran.
The foundation takes some of the most abused and neglected girls and through a holistic approach helps them achieve self-awareness, self-determination and self-sufficiency, and in the process empower them to turn their dreams and aspirations into reality. Not an easy task considering the young women who come to their care are typically runaways from abusive homes, often suffering from mental health and emotional difficulties, mostly stemming from psychological, physical, and sexual abuse.
I was fortunate to learn about OMID Foundation a few years ago watching “The Glass House”, a documentary that I cannot recommend enough.
While impressive, hardly any of the success stories would be possible without the generous support and hard work of so many. OMID relies on donations to improve the existing programs to provide better futures for abused, neglected, and disadvantage young women in Iran.
There is a reason I picked this path, and date. All the references from the Independence Day to ruggedness but beauty of the path, the hard working people living along this route, its ups and downs, and extremely long tunnels but always with a light at the end, are all metaphors for the lives touched by OMID.
Many of us, aware of horrible conditions around the world, quite often say “I wish I could do something about THAT”. Well ... here is a chance to do just that, for one of those THATs
OMID means hope in Persian. I sincerely hope that you find this cause worthy of your support. Please learn more about OMID Foundation and consider helping this fundraising effort by clicking on the Donate button to make your your tax deductible donations directly to OMID Foundation.
As all my charity rides, I pay for all my expenses, so, as it will be reflected on your receipt, 100% of your donation goes to OMID foundation, and is tax deductible. Your contributions may pay for a girl’s winter jacket, her medical and therapy expenses, pen or pencil, a computer, book, staff salary, rent, utility bills, or thousands of other things needed to transform her life. Any amount helps, and is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read my message. I sincerely appreciate your donation as well as your help promoting this message.
All My Best,
