THE STORY:
Ride 4 Water.
Put simply, it’s a bike ride across the US, from California to Maryland, raising money for safe drinking water. But in reality it’s far from simple!
On June 18th, Katie Spotz and Sam Williams will ride a non-stop cycling race that has been described as the toughest in the world.
They are trying to break the world record.
From the moment the clock starts ticking in Oceanside, CA, it won’t stop until they cross the finish-line over 3,000 miles later in Annapolis, MD.
3,000 miles from California to Maryland in eight days.
Every two hours or so, they’ll trade off. Whoever has just finished their stint will ride in a following RV for some food & rest. This routine will continue all through the day and night, meaning they won’t have a proper night’s sleep until the end.
Katie and Sam are no strangers to slightly unusual challenges. Having both completed solo rows across the Atlantic Ocean, among others they decided the time had come to join forces.
They are doing all of this to raise funds to support the incredible work that Blue Planet Network is doing in Northern Kenya in partnership with FARM-Africa.
Sam and Katie are looking for your support.
Your donations today will bring clean drinking water to a community that is in desperate need. Clean water is the key to not only protecting people’s health but also bringing them out of poverty.
Please help.
Any amount will help. If you can give $30 then that is fantastic but if you can ask 30 of your friends to give as well that would be amazing.
Join the team and help Sam and Katie make their race count. You can do a bike ride today, any length, in solidarity for them and ask your friends and family to sponsor you.
Thanks for getting involved.
