NJ RIDE TO END POLIO
Starting September 2 to November District Governor Dwight Leeper will ride his bicycle to every Rotary Clubs in our District.
His cause IS to END POLIO. This would be only the second time in history that a disease is wiped from the face of the earth.
When Rotary began the fight to end polio in 1985 there were over 350,000 cases annually and 125 countries were polio-endemic. Since then, polio cases have been reduced by 99% and only three countries remain.
We are “this close” to eradicating this crippling disease and creating a polio-free world. The only thing that is keeping us from making history is funding.
During Governor's year bicycle ride OUR POLIO TEAM intend to raise $5000 to help protect the world’s children from this paralyzing disease. (That’s about 6 dollars for every mile in the 800 mile distance to every rotary club in our district.)
