BENEFITING: 1736 FAMILY CRISIS CENTER
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2011
This year, I'll be running the LA Marathon on March 20th. The marathon has issued a challenge to all of the participants this year: that we work together to raise $4 million to give back to the community through charitable giving.
In keeping with the spirit of giving back to the community of Los Angeles, the charity I've chosen to support is the 1736 Family Crisis Center (http://www.1736familycrisiscenter.org/index.html). This center works to provide support to victims of domestic violence, runaways, homeless families and youth, and other low-income community members. Their programs of emergency youth shelters, domestic violence shelters, and community service centers provide not only basic needs through food and shelter, but also provide counseling and medical services and work to rebuild lives for long-term success. Through this, the 1736 Family Crisis Center works to provide crucial and meaningful support those in the community who are in the greatest need.
By donating a few dollars, you'll be supporting not only me and the other participants in the LA Marathon who are trying to reach our fundraising goals, but also those in the community who are most in need of our help. Thank you for your support-- every dollar is appreciated and meaningful.
